    FREEMAN, ELIJAH NORMAN (son of Elijah Norman Freeman. born April 17, 1822, in Vermont, died Nov. 28, 1846, in New Mexico en route to Utah; and Mary Bingham, born April 1, 1820, in Vermont). He was born May 20, 1845, LaHarpe, Hancock Co., Ill. Came to Utah Sept. 19, 1847, Daniel Spencer company. Married Annie Maria Poulson March 11, 1872. She was born April 22, 1846. Their children: Annie Maria b. Dec. 11, 1872, m. W. I. Mallory Feb. 15, 1891. Family home Ogden, Utah. Married Mary Ellen Farley April 24, 1876, Salt Lake City (daughter of Winthrup Farley and Mary Ellen Redd), who was born Jan. 5. 1855, Ogden, Utah. Their children: Mary Isidore b. May 1, 1877; Elijah Norman b. May 10, 1879, m. Mary Taylor Dec. 15, 1906; Zanie Ada b. Nov. 1, 1880, m. George Jesse Ruder Jan. 24, 1907; Olive Amelia b. March 14, 1883; Oscar Farley, b. Jan. 20, 1885. m. Lillian Nielson Jan. 18, 1909; Lorin Farr b. Jan. 1, 1887, m. Emma Crofts Jan. 25, 1909; Erastus Bingham b. Dec. 3, 1888; Deatric b. Feb. 18, 1891; Asa Farley b. May 28, 1893. Family resided Ogden, Utah. and St. Johns, Ariz.
    Member 60th quorum seventies; high priest; high councilman in Weber stake; president Y.M.M.I.A.; missionary to England 1873-75; called to St. Johns, Ariz., 1881, where he served as counselor to Bishop D.K. Udall 1881-87; first counselor in St. Johns stake 1887-1905; moved to Basalt, Idaho. where he served as alternate high counselor in Blackfoot stake. Director in St. Johns Co-op. 17 years and in St. Johns drug store 18 years. School trustee; member Basalt village board two terms.
