'Priscilla Bennett is often said in electronic databases to have been born at Weymouth, England, on 5 October 1631, and her mother’s name is sometimes given as Elizabeth/Alice Egington; never, however, do primary-source citations accompany these claims. That the date is exactly twenty years before that of Priscilla’s marriage to William Carpenter raises suspicion that it originated from an estimate of her age on the latter date. It is not certain, moreover, what Priscilla’s relationship to Edward Bennett was ... And in any case, his origin and the identity of his wife are unknown.'

Marriage: None recorded; Children: None Recorded; James S. Elston suggested Priscilla Bennett wife of William Carpenter was daughter of Edward Bennett [citing TAG 70:204] but no evidence is seen for this relationship - she may have been sister or unrelated.

  3. While Priscilla may have been Edward's widow or sister (or not even related), it is speculated that she was his daughter because he was born by 1615 (based on date of freemanship), and she married a man born in 1631. Of course, she could also have been a niece or even a granddaughter, since Edward's birth year is unknown.
