Ebenezer and Elizabeth Ann had twelve children. In 1871 he and his wife and their eight living children emigrated to the United States through New York, possibly through Ellis Island which was a renowned emigration entry facility. From New York the group headed west on the C. B. & Q. railroad to it's westernmost station at that time Lincoln, Nebraska.

Feeling like that city was too large and crowded they journeyed furthur west to Seward, Nebraska, which they must have found more to their liking. A few miles northwest of Seward, but still in Seward County, Ebenezer founded a town and named it Staplehurst, after the town of his birth in Kent County, England. This town is still shown on a current Nebraska map.

Ebenezer was a trained surveyor and helped survey the main line of the C. B. &Q railroad from Omaha, Nebraska to Denver, Colorado. He was also a merchant when living in England.

At the time of his death he, with his eldest son William Saunders, operated a hardware store in Littleton, Arapahoe County, Colorado, which is just a short distance from Denver, Colorado. Ebenezer also owned considerable acreage in Texas and property with a gold mine on it in California.[#N1]

"Staplehurst. In 1873, Ebenezar Jull settled on a piece of land one and one-half miles south of Staplehurst on the banks of Lincoln Creek. He, with his wife and children, came here from the little village of Staplehurst, England. Three years later when a post office was established at his home his eldest daughter, May Jull, was post-mistress, and she named the office Staplehurst after her old home in England. In 1879 the post office was moved to its present location but retained its name." From Google Books.

  4. Searches on familysearch.org show a marriage on 5 Aug 1857 of Ebenezer Jull (son of William) and Eliza Ann Sanders (dau of William). Two records for the same info, one from parish registers showing Holy Trinity Church Botleys and Lyne, Surrey and the other, possibly civil registry, showing Newington, Surrey. There are images, but need to get to a FHL to see them.
