  3.   The seven oldest children: "Abiel", David, Ebenezer, Hannah, Isaac, Mary and William were all baptized "between Aug. 25 and Sept. 8, 1728", per Source:West Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records of West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, to the Year 1850, pp 82-6. The birth of "Abiah" is recorded in Bridgewater in 1727 and it is presumably him that is baptized as Abiel per the above record. However West Bridgewater records also show the baptism of "Abia, ch. David" on 16 May 1736. As this is a month before David Jr. married, it is presumably a child of David, Sr. No death record is found for the first Abiah, but this appears to be a second son Abiah, since the age at death of Abiah calculates to a birth in 1736. Most sources seem to assume the Abiah born 1727 is the one mention in his father's will, without recognizing that there must have been two sons named Abiah.
