  3. Source:History of the Town of Hingham, Massachusetts, p. 2:353, lists a child, Daniel, baptized 24 Mar 1671-72, who "prob. removed to Dartmouth, where his fa. had given him lands". No will is mentioned, which would be the only way the father could give the son lands. The baptism of "Daniel Haward" is found in the Hobart Journal, NEHGR, p. 121:191, but he is not indicated as anybody's son, which based on how the journal was written may not mean anything, but also does not confirm that it is the baptism of a child. Since this is 2 months prior to the marriage to Deborah Pitts, the baptism perhaps belongs to Daniel the adult. Even if one postulated an earlier wife for Daniel, it seems highly unlikely that he would remarry 2 months after the death of that wife. Further the baptism is only eight months prior to the birth of daughter Deborah, which is possible given this is a baptism, but would imply Deborah was pregnant with her second child at the time of their marriage, which seems unlikely. It is assumed, pending further evidence, that the son Daniel did not exist.
