There is some confusion about the number of children Chris and Olive had. In both the 1900 and 1910 censuses, Olive reports that she had 9 children and all are living. However, census reports show 10 children in their household at various times, plus a girl Gertrude born when they were in their late 50s and living with them in 1900, probably a granddaughter. The most likely "missing child" is Grant, who is 3 in 1870, but not listed in 1880. He may have been a relative or something, or may have passed away and Olive declined to count him in the later census count.

Late in life, Christopher and Olive moved to California to be near their daughters Sarah and Mary. They live in Gridley in 1910, and are buried in the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.
