Charles and Rachel Shuff

lived at 581 East Market for numerous years, and then Charles built a house next door at 573 East Market. When they moved to this house when I was about 10 years old (I think), we moved a piece of furniture every time we went over to the new house to work. He worked at the Adams Street Lumber for a lot of years, and then he started his own lumber company, The East Market Street Lumber, which was located across the street from where Dick and Nellie Shuff lived at 484 East Market St. Dad ran his lumber yard for about 5 years (I think) and then the National Machinery Company wanted him to be a pattern maker for their company. He still worked with wood which is what he treasured. He worked there for 25 years and then retired.S3
