At the top of the page is the following statement: 'Emma Ice, Mother of Ada Edna Flowers, appeared in person, and stated that the father of Ada Edna Flowers, has been absent for 12 yrs and that I have not heard from him for more than ten years, and she therefore gives her consent for Ada Edna Flowers to obtain a marriage license.'
↑ It is assumed they were divorced before Emma's remarriage. It appears from the statement Emma made when their daughter applied for a marriage license that she had no evidence that Charles was dead. Emma was living without Charles in the 1910 census, but listed her marital status as married.
