Judith Dick Plumley has in her possession a quilt from about 1850; on it are written in ink bible verses and such town names as Saxtons River and Newfane, followed by the year 1852. Prior to Judy owning it, this quilt had been in the possession of another Dick relative. Our current theory is that this was a friendship quilt prepared for and given to Amzi Doolittle Barber and his wife when they departed Vermont for Ohio about 1852.
