The location of the marriage record is unknown. The identification of Rachel, daughter of Hannah and Jacob Van Camp as the wife of Amos depends upon the land petition of Rachael Knapp (Augusta, 1802, Vol 269, Bundle K 6, Petition 1, film C-2117, Ref: RG 1 L3) as interpreted and reported in Reid's work (since the petition itself has not been otherwise examined).[2] Oddly, unlike most petitions, this one is indexed only under Knapp and does not mention a maiden name (if it is other than Knapp). Also, Jacob's 1798 will does not mention a daughter Rachel. There are other Rachels, of course, and other Rachel Van Camps (such as daughter of Jacob's brother John), who conceivably could be the actual wife of Amos Knapp. References
