The connection to the two children is a bit speculative: A descendant of James says his mother was Louise Baldwin who married Silas Baldwin after James' father died. There was a Lewis Baldwin listed in the 1870 census with James. Furthermore, one of James' sons has the middle name Abel.

Also, note that the 1830 census indicates they also had a daughter, possibly a year or two older than James, but nothing has turned up about her (so far).

The table lists one boy < 5 years old (James?), one male 20-30 (?), one male 30-40 (Abel?), one girl < 5 years old, and one female 30-40 (Louise?). Presumably this was just before Charles was born.
