WeRelate:Suggestions/Clean up multiple redirects

Multiple redirects (e.g., page A is redirected to page B, which is redirected to page C) can be handled by WeRelate, usually with negligible impact on performance, but lengthy chains can make it more difficult to understand the history of changes. Furthermore, the chain of redirects can be broken if a page in the middle is manually deleted.

This request, suggested by the WeRelate Advisory Council at its 16 Jun 2025 meeting, is to clean up multiple redirects by having all the pages redirect to the active page (e.g., page A and page B both redirect to page C). The preference is for a job that can be run periodically.

Note: The impact on being able to undo merges will have to be considered.--DataAnalyst 20:12, 16 June 2025 (UTC)
