Hi and welcome to WeRelate. I see that you recently changed information on a family I also recently edited. I would ask 2 things of you. Firstly, when you edit existing pages that others are watching, would you please add a summary of your changes, as this gets included in the email that the watchers receive. This is considered a courtesy that many people ask for. (If you did your updates during a GEDCOM upload and did not have a chance to add an edit summary, I apologize for this request, but it looked to me that this was not the case.)

Secondly, would you please review the sources and Talk pages of existing pages to see if they indicate that the information already on the page is more reliable than the information you are adding. The source you used for updating the Taylor family is an online tree that quotes conflicting sources and does not have any sources for some of the information you added to WeRelate. On the other hand, the source I cited was a recent journal article, and assumed to reflect the latest scholarship. I'm sure your intentions were good - to add missing data - but in this case, the effect was to propagate previous errors and confusion. I am reverting all the information I note as being incorrect, and removing the source you added.

I hope this does not turn you off WeRelate - we all make mistakes and rely on the community to correct them. I would just ask that you take into account the fact that what you read on the internet (or in old books) might not be accurate and check to see if the info already in WeRelate might be more reliable (based on notes and sources). If you are unsure (as, for example, in this case where I did not include extensive citations), you could post a question on the Talk page. Thanks--DataAnalyst 03:02, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
