Emma Funk [1 May 2014]

Pattylee,

I've replaced the information that you deleted from Person:Emma Funk (2) for a second time. Other users created this page and added the data and sources. If you have a valid reason and sources to explain why the information on the page is inaccurate, please begin a discussion on the talk page. --Jennifer (JBS66) 10:06, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Please do not create pages for living people [9 May 2014]

I noticed you created the pages Person:Living Unknown (26897), Person:Unknown Living (15), Family:Unknown Living and Unknown Living (1), and Person:Stuart Clark (4). Since these are probably all living, they need to be removed.--Daniel Maxwell 04:36, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Sorry, just added unknown because I could not add given names to us, myself and my husband, our son died and I just wanted to add him to the family history, it will not happen again, as I will not use this site again, again forgive us for our minor indiscretion.--Pattylee 05:40, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

There is no need to leave the site. You are perfectly allowed to add your deceased son, but please add dates. We are trying to come up with a means to allow linking of living pages on the site, but we haven't figured out the best way to do this yet. In the meantime, there is a grandparents tag that I could show you how to add to your son's page so that he is linked to the rest of the family, but skips the living people. Please understand there are liability problems that come with living people pages, and we choose to avoid them all together by not allowing them. Daniel Maxwell 05:43, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Obituaries [15 May 2014]

Hi Pattylee,

Regarding including obituaries on WeRelate pages, the policy here states:

Obituaries published after 1923 should not be added to WeRelate (this includes scanned images, transcribed text from newspapers, and text from a funeral home website) unless you were the author of the obituary or you have express permission from the newspaper to publish the obituary. Photos contained in obituaries are also subject to copyright laws. These should not be added to WeRelate unless you have permission or you have personally taken the photo.

When adding public domain obituaries or those for which you have obtained permission, please include the name of the newspaper and date the obituary was published.

The preference for obituaries published after 1923 is to create a brief summary of pertinent facts contained in the obituary. These facts (such as name, age, birth/marriage/death/burial dates and places, names of parents/spouse/siblings/children) are not copyrighted. You may also include a link to the text if available online."

If you were the author of the obituary, or have permission to copy it, then you may include the full text on her page. WeRelate doesn't allow the creation of pages for living people, but things like a transcription of a 1940 census, or an obituary - essentially items that are publicly available, can be added to a page for a deceased person. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask! --Jennifer (JBS66) 17:55, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
