Willis Jackson line contacts [17 March 2009]

I'm so glad to hear from someone with an interest in this family. I haven't even got all the postings cleaned up yet! I'll be merging dupes all day tomorrow because I've uploaded charts from two different people. (I tried to wait for the new upload feature to come over from the sandbox but couldn't delay any longer.) Willis is not in my direct line that we know of so far, but a descendant of this family has DNA test results that prove this branch connects to the line of Robert Jackson of Hempstead, Queens, New York. I have a website dedicated to the descendants of Robert, so I began working on it.

Ah! Are you the Megan that emailed me the other day at imjaniejac@comcast.net? Oh, you must be! I'm so glad you're here at werelate. Perhaps you'll be interested in adding to this line. Or how active are you on this site? I don't know how to find your profile.

Our biggest challange is to find/prove Willis' father and/or to find out more about Charles who married Nancy Unknown who could be/may be Willis' father. We're trying to find out just where Willis' line connects to the Hempstead line. I think I've looked at nearly every Jackson in Trimble County. If I had time (which I don't) what all I'm going to upload would make a good one-name study for that locality.

Do keep in touch! And if you have time you can spend on this chart, feel free to merge away. My dupes list will be long tomorrow I'm thinking. (some data was uploaded on 3/16 and some on 3/17) I'll need to add/edit sources too. One of the charts that was sent to me was missing a lot of sources and some of his other sources were messed up from being a GEDCOM from his ancestry.com chart.--Janiejac 22:57, 17 March 2009 (EDT)

I'm totally new to this site, and like I said my information is really scattered right now. I've been working on this more than I should and have been neglecting my school work a bit, but I'll do what I can. My dad is watching the page too, djackson. I'm just so excited about all of this. So I'll work on trying to learn to use this site in my spare time.--Megljack 23:27, 17 March 2009 (EDT)

I've been watching werelate for some time and have uploaded a few small charts just for the experience; but I'm new to wiki and it's like learning a new program. It's been fun to watch it evolve and read all the comments at the watercooler. But I've still got a lot to learn and the site has got a lot of work to do to be able to get out of beta. But they're working on it. I came here mainly because several of us were desperately looking for a place to collaborate on our work. When more than one works on the file, it's hard for everyone to keep in sync. I'll be back here tomorrow!
Did you notice the email from Jack McAnally about Charles Thomas Jackson's DNA test? Jack is a Jackson by blood and a McAnally by adoption. He is one I work closely with and he's been extremely helpful in gathering in Jacksons we didn't know anything about. His expertise is interpreting the DNA results. I had already forgotton that Charles Thomas was a sure descendant, but Jack was there to remind us. I'm calling it quits for the night. --Janiejac 00:01, 18 March 2009 (EDT)

After you have taken the tour and/or looked over the help/tutorial files, I can send you and invitation to the Trimble County tree I am working on. You don't have to be invited to see the pages or to edit them, but the advantage of being invited is that when you accept the invitation, you then copy the tree, name it anything you want, and then you are automatically a 'watcher' on all of the pages in that tree. That means you get an email notification every time any of the pages in that tree are edited. That's how I knew you had left a msg on Willis' talk page. Neat! If you decide you want to do this, let me know when you're ready by clicking on my name here and leaving a msg on my talk page. But it's a good idea to go through the tutorial first! --Janiejac 23:28, 18 March 2009 (EDT)
