I have a Henry David Lloyd marrying an Elizabeth Haldane (my Great Grandmother). I believe this is the same Henry David in your family. There are some interesting articles in Papers Past (that I can find for you if you're interested) that explain how Henry David and Elizabeth got married. I also have a marriage certificate. Would love to chat to you about this as it's a fascinating story. Cheers, Greg--RosieV 05:56, 15 October 2012 (EDT) Hi Greg thanks for the message! I'm only new at this - I'm 69, a widower, and have been trying to piece together a family tree for my grandchildren seeing (somehow) I'm now the 'older' generation! (Don't know how THAT happened...) Yes I did think someone had got my Lloyd family confused with another, as, at that time, I hadn't found out about Hannah's (his first wife) death in 1880 - but I'm pleased you corrected me. My email address is lloydgleeson at gmail dot com and it would be great to hear from you!--Lloydg 03:41, 16 October 2012 (EDT) Hello, I'll give you the short version and email you the longer version this weekend when I have more time. My Great Grandfather (Richard Haldane) died. My Great Grandmother (Elizabeth Hallen/Haldane) witnessed a stabbing between two chinese workers in Matakitaki. Elizabeth testified in court about the stabbing. Henry David Lloyd was taken by the way that Elizabeth handled herself in the court. So taken that he proposed marriage. Henry and Elizabeth had one son (Ernest) who died in Auckland in the 1960s. Something happened between Henry and Elizabeth and they separated. I think that there were a couple of reconciliations but it is clear that they weren't together much after approximately 1910. (I believe that Elizabeth may have been a rather troubled person). Elizabeth died in Reefton in the 1930s. Kind regards, Greg--RosieV 04:02, 16 October 2012 (EDT) |
