As I was patrolling the place pages, I noticed that you had contributed a number of new pages. I needed to rename several. The place pages are used by the search system and thus need to conform to our place naming criteria. I hope you understand. For instance, I needed to rename you Connecticut(colony) to Place:Connecticut (colony), Kingdom of England. Towns, hospitals, counties, etc. must be attached to a country or the system think that your place is a separate country and will default to your new country instead of the town, hospital, county, state, whatever. You can see why this would be a problem. Hope you understand. If you have any questions or comments please don't hesitate to leave me a message.--sq 21:31, 24 August 2008 (EDT) [add comment] [edit] Immigrant as a title [4 September 2008]While I know that some texts use "immigrant" in the name of important immigrant ancestors, werelate custom has been more to reserve that for formal titles, titles of royalty, degrees, etc. Maybe it would be better if the name were duplicated and an alternate form (identical to the actual name) appeared with the informal title added (in that title field).--Jrm03063 14:06, 4 September 2008 (EDT) [add comment] [edit] Use of asterisks [25 October 2008]Hi Jim. I'm one of the admin volunteers here and noticed you are renaming your individuals and placing asterisks in the title. Are these temporary "holders" of some sort? Are they to distinguish your pages from others with the same name? Are these pages you don't want merged into anyone elses? Am I way off in left field? :) Just curious. Thanks! --Ronni 14:03, 25 October 2008 (EDT) Hi Ronni. I'm new here. I found this web page a few weeks back and thought the concept sounded interesting. So I thought I would give it a try. The learning curve here is pretty steep. Also I have come to find that this is not what you would called a done deal site. I have not dumped a gedcom file but wanted to enter people one at a time and try to do a good job and keep tract of who and what I am entering. First I entered a lot of people and along the way I hooked into some pages that were already here. I made what was probably a mistake by trying to "clean up" some of these pages. Even though these pages were all "watched" by one or more people I never received any feed back from any of then. Then one day somebody either merged or returned some of these pages back to what I am inclined to call junk. Shazam, I began to feel like I had made a huge mistake and decided to clear out of here. After a couple of days I decided to try again but I decided, because I think this is a work in progress, that I could try a few things myself. There is no way to follow a family name back through the generations unless you can remember the direct ancestors names. There is no color coding or other method of marking that I could find so I tried asterisks. On reflection I now think that tracing one persons direct ancestors on this site really isn't what you had in mind. I think I should just check out of here and move on. Thank you for listening to all this. I am not sure of just how to contact you and hope this gets back to you.

The save button is at the bottom of the text box.
