I am Robert Smoren's grandson. For years I have been trying to figure out our original last name. I'm glad I finally found it, thank you.

I have a little info on his side of the family if you like?

I am a great-granddaughter of Joseph Francis Smereczanski. Based upon Sigmund's Ellis Island arrival record, Joseph and he were brothers. This side of the family took on a variety of different surnames, from Smerchansky, Shermansky, Sherman, Hoffman, Clements, and Delgran.

Today I ordered the Social Security application for Sigmund. Hopefully that will provide clues about his parents' names. In the next few days I'll upload some of the images I have, like the Ellis Island record. It would be great to have additional information on your family. One thing to keep in mind with WeRelate, they don't allow pages to be created for living people. If you need any help using the site, feel free to let me know.

Created a FB group [27 December 2015]

I just had an idea... I created a Facebook group called Smereczanski descendants. I see there are a few Smoren on FB and I could invite a few people from my side of the family. The Smereczanski family has been a puzzle for so long, maybe a FB group would be helpful for sharing research ideas, family photos, etc. I look forward to possibly connecting with you there! --Jennifer (JBS66) 17:18, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
