John Pritt of Bath County, Virginia [21 October 2022]

Hi Darren, I did a little additional research on your John Pritt (1765-1850) of Bath County, Virginia. After adding some additional records, it is very clear that John Pritt of Bath County, Virginia was not the same person as John Pritt of Lycoming County, PA. A Deed in Bath county clearly proves his parentage as well as his siblings. Also Census and Land Records in Bath County clearly differentiate him from the other John Pritt. Hope this helps:)

Feel free to add additional records/sources to the person pages as needed.

Best regards,

Jim:)--Delijim 21:08, 20 October 2022 (UTC)

Hi Darren, I have included the sources/citations on each person page. If you click on them, it will normally take you to the page or list the source.

Much of the info was on this page: https://lechpowell.com/getperson.php?personID=I13009&tree=tree1

Lots of sources and records are referenced.

Best regards,

Jim:)

Hi Darren, regarding your question on Census records, I normally just use Ancestry as they have most Census records indexed, although keep in mind, you won't always find someone in a particular census. People moved around and weren't always captured in the census, plus if the Census taker wrote a name down incorrectly it might have been mis-indexed, making it particularly difficult to find. In addition, some Census records were filmed poorly and ARE very difficult to read or so light that you can barely make them out... I still do not think that the Pritt's you are looking at were in Lycoming, PA. The progenitor of the Bath County Pritt's appears to be Robert Pritt who was in the Augusta County area by 1767, when he left records there. It appears they were in Albemarle County, VA based upon the research done on the Lechthaler and Puwell Family History Site, which I provided the url above. I suspect you'll have more luck looking in Albemarle County for prior records of this family.

Best regards,

Jim:)
