Coker family [29 January 2008]

Hi Donna; I am excited to see that you added some data to the Robert Coker family. Thanks so much for the personal information about George's death. My gr. uncle died as a result of his injuries while operating a one horse cotten gin (not sure what that is but that is what was handed down in my family lore). Are you descended from this family? How did you find the file on WeRelate? I just love the concept of WeRelate. Welcome to WeRelate. --Beth 08:04, 27 January 2008 (EST)

Hi Beth, I admit, I've been lurking on the Rootsweb lists for Coker, McDaniel and Stewart for a number of years. I've hesitated to submit much info because my research has been spotty at best. It wasn't until I saw your input about WeRelate and your family information that I realized we must be related. My ggrandparents are Cora and George Coker. My mother used to tell me about their summer vacations to the farm in Comanche. She said Cora had quilting bees at the house every week and I have a quilt top that has been handed down from my grandmother, Verda. I live in Austin, Tx and haven't done much traveling for geneology research, so it was a huge surprise to see all that was added the next day to the family page. I expect to retire in a few years and hope to rectify that. I also hope to get the hang of this system without making too many mistakes. Thanks for the tips. Donna, this is not my Coker family. I research the Coker families in Alabama and their connections. I am hoping to be able to connect some of the ancestors of the earlier generations and provided lineages for DNA testing. My great grandfather was another George Washington Coker but he was from Lowndes County, Alabama. It would be wonderful to put a picture of your grandmother's quilt top on her page. --Beth 17:25, 29 January 2008 (EST)

Stewart family [24 November 2008]

Hi Donna,

I have updated information on the family of Andrew Stewart and Annis Coker except for Dock Stewart. --Beth 18:00, 24 November 2008 (EST)
