Martha MINKS [11 August 2014]

Very curious how you tie into this family. Would appreciate hearing from you.--Lorquil 20:35, 25 October 2009 (EDT)

My mother was Olga Iro Meeks, and her father, my grandfather was George Anderson Meeks, he was the son of Lewis Albert Meiks, who was the son of Jacob Meiks (Mincks) Jr., who was the son of Jacob Mincks (Minks)Sr. of Rush County,Indiana after Pennsylvania. What is your connection, let me know if you would like more indepth information. Dave Richey--Davrchy 22:28, 25 October 2009 (EDT)

Hi,

I have a rather distant connection to the MINKS family. My 3ggfather's oldest daughter, Martha, married James MINKS in Des Moines County, Iowa, on 13 May 1845. They subsequently moved to Boulder, Colorado, as pioneers.

My sources said he was born 13 June 1815 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, the son of Jacob MINCKS and Sarah WATERS. James and Martha had three children: Sarah Catherine MINKS, George MINKS,a nd Mary MINKS. Parents of Jacob MINCKS were Michael and Margaret.

If you have any additional information, I would be very interested if you wouldn't mind sharing.

Thanks!

Hammer family from Thelma [1 August 2014]

Hi, I'm guessing you are Dave Richey? I'm John Hammer, Thelma Clevenger was my grandmother. I'm Cletus Hammer Jr.'s oldest. I saw there was a page for my grandmother and wondered if it would be alright if I added some of what I know of her descendants. I just made an account here to try to contact you really. Just getting into ancestries. I really wish I'd developed more an interest younger when I could have asked more questions of relatives who have since passed. Sincerely, John Hammer--Jkham 00:18, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Peter Mink(s) [6 August 2021]

I was referred to this page by another Mink researcher. You left this comment.

 Family Notes per User:Davrchy.

Peter Minx - This line still needs further research but many believe Peter to be the same Peter Mink who settled in Washington County, Virginia by 1800. This would be consistent with the fact that he was not present for the reading of his father's will in 1811. The census of that year indicates his birth date to be before 1774, He was reportedly born in Pennsylvania. Peter mink remained in Virginia and is last found in Washington County census in 1820. He died in 1823. his 2nd wife and widow lavina Watkins Mink is listed on the 1850 census for Smyth County, Virginia with her daughter Sarah (Sally) Nance. Peter and Levina had only one son; David, who remained in Smyth County.

I wanted to let you know that we have determined, through DNA matching, and subsequent documentation, that this Peter is indeed the son of Nicholas from Fayette, PA. He has a son also named Peter who married Hannah Jayne in 1807 in Washington VA. He and most of his family moved to Indiana in the 1830's.--Bjuszcak 00:17, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
