This is from my notes:

1762 May 10 With respect to the Old Cedar Creek Presbyterian Church Graveyard on the south side of Cedar Creek and west side of Mulberry Run, the following men submitted a petition dated May 10, 1762 to Lord Fairfax requesting that the meeting house and graveyard "may not be sold away but that we may have it as it was first appointed": Samuel Vance, Jr., John Vance, Samuel Blakburn, William Willson, Benjamin Blakburn, William Blakburn, Hugh Bay, William Stephenson, Isaac Whitt, Samuel Vance, John Cook, Andrew Vance, William Rusel, Daniel Curry, James Hoge, and William Evens. [Source: Tombstone Inscriptions Shenandoah County, Virginia, by Duane Lyle Bordon, 1986 (copy at Denver Public Library, G929.575595 B644 top

So this was a petition, presumably followed by a deed.

This was from 2008 and my memory has dimmed. I'm sorry I can't be more help but will continue to look for more. As I recall the Cedar Creek minutes were lost. I collaborated with someone else in the project and we spent nearly a year weeding through various records separating the Duck Run William Russell from the more affluent William Russell.--Soulard2 03:09, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

Yes I do live in the Soulard neighborhood of St. Louis. I was born in Iron County, traveled around and ended up back in Missouri. I descend from Elizabeth Russell (dau of Joseph) who married Jacob Moyer. They came to Caledonia in 1818 with her brothers Alexander and William, settling on a farm in Bellevue. Their son William who m. Susan Rice was my 2nd ggf.

Have you had your DNA tested? While we were in the midst of this project we were searching for a direct male descendant. The only one I knew didn't trust his DNA to a public forum. My email address is soulard2@gmail.com.--Soulard2 18:44, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
