Ann_s Kerns and Mayse Family T.ged appears to overlap a previously-imported GEDCOM [7 December 2008]

The pages from this GEDCOM have not yet been generated because they appear to match pages from a GEDCOM you have previously imported to WeRelate.

If you have already imported a GEDCOM containing people in this GEDCOM and you want to replace that tree with this GEDCOM, you need to delete that tree first so duplicates aren't created when you import this GEDCOM. Go to the Family Tree page, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click on the "delete" link next to that tree. Please be aware that any pages in that tree that are being watched by others won't get deleted. Once that tree is deleted you can create a new tree and re-upload this GEDCOM into it. (We're planning to make re-uploading GEDCOM files much simpler later this Fall.)

If you don't think you have already imported a GEDCOM containing people in this GEDCOM, or if the two GEDCOM's don't overlap that much, leave a message for Dallan or send an email to dallan@WeRelate.org and we'll go ahead with the import.

In answer to your question about overlapping gedcom uploads ...

  1. If one tree is duplicated within the other and you want to delete the whole tree, then Click on the MyRelate menu item and select Trees. It will show you a table listing all your trees. Click on the delete link at the far right side of the page.
  2. If both trees have unique information and you do not want to delete one or the other, then Click on the MyRelate menu item and select Show duplicates. You can then merge the duplicate pages.

Hope this helps.:) If you have any questions or comments please feel free to Leave me a message here. We have a robot that notifies you when the gedcom is successfully uploaded. It can't really answer any questions. But, I would be glad to. Thanks for your interest.--sq 23:03, 9 December 2008 (EST)

Kerns Information - Nicholas Kern [21 August 2010]

Hello, I've changed one of your pages: Nicholas Kerns, to reflect recent research by several that have documented records of Nicholas Kern/Kerns. If you have any sources to the contrary, let me know. Nicholas Kern has been dis-proven to be the father of George and Michael Curn/Kern that were mentioned in the will of their step-father, Matthew Sharp, based upon that research. Unfortunately, the incorrect information has been widely circulated and taken as gospel, in spite of several primary documents to the contrary.

Please review when you have an opportunity.

Best regards,
