Hello. My name is Sjoerd de Roos. My grandmother was Trijntje Pierius Terpstra (b 26 Sep 1887 in Tjerkwerd, Friesland, Netherlands).
From my dad I know that some of her brothers and sisters emigrated to America.
Thanks to internet and werelate.org it has become a lot easier to find family abroad!
I am interested in Cornelis Pierius Terpstra (b 8 Mar 1875 in Arum), Jacob P Terpstra (b 22 Feb 1874 in Arum), Sytske P Terpstra (m Frans van der Woud, b 26 Jun 1877 in Arum) and Jentsche (Jenny or Jennie) P Terpstra (b 22 Apr 1876 in Arum).
So far I could not find when they left Friesland.
I have some photos of people I do not know, my dad didn't either.
Luckily I have some photos of Cornelis, Jacob, Sytske and Johannes.
My dad's cousin Anne Terpstra, married to John Lyhus, visited him in the early seventies.
Maybe this rings a bell?

I wonder whether they all changed their names.
I know that Jentsche was changed to Jenny or Jennie, and Johannes to John.
But what name would Sytske have taken?
And Jacob maybe Jack?
