According to Jacobus article on the Spencers, TAG, William #22, the son of Gerard/Jared of Haddam, m. Margaret Bates (Vol. 27, p. 171). His children are found in Barbour's records for Haddam. He d. 1731. The man who married Sarah Ackley is identified as William #17 (Vol. 27, p. 168-9) is identified as a son of Michael #8 (p. 164: "with great misgiving", probably because it makes him too old to place him in this family). His children are recorded in Barbour's records for East Haddam and his inventory was taken (i.e., he had died) 6 Feb 1712/13 so he is clearly a different man, regardless of who his parents were. Jacobus does not discuss any similarities or confusion between the two, but his arrangement appears to be based on the one that was always in Haddam is the son of Jared), the other came to Haddam from Saybrook. --Jrich 18:59, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
