Defect 1

Jrich represents:

On p. 2:379, under HAVEN, Savage says "THOMAS, Dedham, m.... Mary, d. of Thomas Hearing or Herring."
On p. 2:406, under HERRING, Savage says "HERRING, JAMES, Dedham 1642. THOMAS, Dedham, a freem. 1654, is otherwise unkn. because his w. Mary, d. of Robert Pierce, wh. in his will gave her portion of his est. was, by misreading of the name, giv. to Thomas Haven of Dedham, when there was no such person."
The key item seems to be there was no such person as Thomas Haven. No such marriage found, no mention of Thomas Haven in Dedham records.
