Defect 1 [26 January 2020]

Savage has so mixed up the two Thomas Clarkes that it is virtually impossible to tell which entry applies to which man, so that the wrong parts cannot be singled out, and the entire passages have been striken. Savage appears to have switched the wills, giving each one the other's will.

In particular, Thomas "first liv. at Dorchester" had a wife Mary who is named as mother of Mehitable and Elizabeth per Dorchester birth records, and he names daughters Mehitable Warren and Elizabeth Hutchinson in his will, not the children listed by Savage, and died in 1683 not 1678. Contrary to what Savage says, he mentioned a wife in his will, but did not name her.

Meanwhile Thomas Clarke of Boston (whom Savage call Jr.) had the children named above by wife Elizabeth per Boston records, but he d. 1678 with widow Ann named in his codicil, and named in his will several of the children Savage gave to above man, while the children given him by Savage, belong to above Thomas.
