In the name of God amen I, John Floyd of Jefferson County being of sound mind & memory to make Constitute & ordain this my last will & Testament: - that is to day I give, I give to my wife Janny Floyd all the land Contained within the lines, of the tract I now live on, that lie on the north side of Beargrass and to be laid off from the other part of the tract by the meanders of Beargrass to her & her heirs forever – I give to my Son William Preston Floyd the residue of the two thousand acres I live on lying on the South side of Beargrass, including the stations of Hoglins & New Holland, and divided from the tract mentioned, by the meanders of Beargrass Creek, to him & his heirs forever: I give to my Daughter Mourning Floyd, & to my Son not baptized, now called George Floyd, all that tract of land lying in Fayette, called Woodstock Containing Four thousand acres, more or less, to be equally divided between them, according to quantity & quality, so as for both to have the advantage of Springs, & water courses, to them & their heirs forever- I give to the Infant with which my wife is now pregnant fourteen hundred acres of land, on the waters of Harrods Creek, being the tract I purchased of Colo Trigg to it & its heirs forever. The four hundred acre tract of land, which I purchasd of Colo Todd adjoining the land I live on, at the north West end, I leave to be Sold by my Exrs when they shall adjudge it necessary or exchangd for Slaves, as they may think best for the benefit of my wife & Children- All my other lands including my Entries, on the branches of Floyds Fork & Harrods Creek, and all entries made for me in the Surveyors Book (except 500 acres on Floyds fork, or Bull Skin, sold to John Veech, & of which two he has his choice, and also except 600 acres, on the Ohio disposed of to Colo Todd, and to be transfrd to his heirs, as well, as the 500 acres to Veech) are to go & descend to my wife & all my Children, to be equally divided amongst them according to quantity & Quality, except so much thereof as may be thought by my Exrs should be sold for the purpose of purchasing slaves for the benefit of my family for paying for building or finishing a house already begun & furnishing the same, for my wife and Children to dwell in, all or either of which they are hereby authorized, to do Should they think it best for the advantae of my family – all my Stock & other estate except what is hereafter disposed of, are to be Kept together for the support & maintenance of my wife & Children – all slaves which are owing to me or that may be purchased for my estate, are to be equally divided among my wife & all Children, as they come of age or Marry. and in case my wife or any of my Children should die before they have an heir, that part of my estate shall go & descend to all the Survivors, and to be equally divided amongst them- My Exrs to Convey. to the heirs of Colo Stephen Trigg, one thousand acres of land in Fayette, called the Royal Spring Tract and also convey to the heirs, of John McClelland, fourteen hundred acres, or so much thereof, as a legal title, is obtaind for, and no more in my name, as assn of John McClelland, lying on the north side the Royal Spring Tract, and to take up an assignment of mine of the Royal Spring now in the hand of Sarah Wilson – I give to the youngest Son of Robert Davis decd Twenty five acres of land in Amherst, where I formerly lived- It being the land I had of his Father, to him & his heirs forever: I give all my lands in Amherst to my Father to be disposed of as he shall think fit. All my lands in Bottetourt are to be disposed of by Colo William Preston and after Settling his accts against me the balance of the money & other effects which he may get for it to be put in the possession of my wife for the support of my family And for the assistance of my Brother Isham in removing me to this Country I give him a two thousand acre entry on Floyds fork calld the Horse Shoe Bottom, - My other Brothers Robert & Charles are desired to finish the surveying thereof which I have undertaken for othrs and to receive half the money due me for my Locations I have made for absent people & also to survey and patent all my lands entered for me, except those disposed of, for which they are, each of them, to receive four hundred acres in any part they may chuse, of my locations, in this County. Not already disposed of, and to be laid off in such a manner as not to spoil the figure of the remaining part- I do hereby nominate & appoint William Pope, Gent & my wife, Jenny Flyd, Exrs of this my Last Will: Who are to be allod for their gtrouble whatever the County –Court may adjudge reasonable for their trouble &c Jno Floyd Signed Seald published & pronounced in the presence of Charles Floyd Robert Flyd, Robert Eakin

At a Court held for Jefferson County, on the 3d June 1785. This Last Will and Testament of John Floyd Esq. Deceased, was proved, & admitted to record.
