6 Jan. 1673, bef. ment. H. 1692; Deborah, 14 Sept. 1674; Mary,
tw. with last, d. 1698, unm.; Joseph, 23 Sept. 1677; and his w. d.
1679, prob. at b. of Benjamin, 4 Feb.; was selectman, rep. 1674, 6, 9,
82-6, an Assist. of Plymouth col. 1689-91; and first rep. under new
Chart. of Mass. 1692, and 7, and d. 31 Mar. 1708. Sarah m. 20 Dec.
1689, David Jacob; and Deborah m. 19 Apr. 1699, Thomas Loring.
Of Joshua, tho. he liv. to 1750, we kn. not whether he was m. and
Deane says, he left no fam. The youngest s. Benjamin, was of Boston,
a merch. ar. co. 1700, trad. to Barbados, perhaps never m. and is thot.
not to have left fam. JOHN, Scituate, eldest s. of the preced. m. 20
May 1687, Deborah, d. of Thomas Loring, had Sarah, b. 8 Jan. 1689;
a s. d. soon; Deborah, 4 Apr. 1693; John, 17 July 169; Elijah, 7
Mar. 1698; Mary, 24 Nov. 1700; Nazaeth, 11 Sept. 1703; Benjamin,
17 Apr. 1706; and Nathaniel, 9 July 1709, H. C. 1728; and she d.
1713. By sec. w. m. 1714, wid. Sarah Holmes, had Josiah, b. 29 Jan.
1715; and Mary, 24 Oct. 1716; was rep. 1701, couns. 1710-28, and Judge
of Sup. Ct. from 178 to his d. 19 Jan. 1738. His s. John, also Judge
of the Sup. Ct. was f. of William, H. C. 1751, one of the Justices of
the Sup. Ct. of the U. S. appoint. by Washington, wh. d. 13 Sept. 1810.
JOSEPH, Scituate, br. of the preced. m. 1 Jan. 1710, Mary, or Mercy, d.
of Nathan Pickels (Deane, 259, and 32, is responsib. for both names),
was a deac. had only s. Joseph, H. C. 1721, wh. was f. of Nathan, H. C.
173, one of the Judges of the Sup. Ct. MATTHEW, Hingham 1638,
from Hingham in Co. Norfk. s. of Peter, b. in 1588, the yr. of the
Spanish Armada, m. 5 Aug. 1613, Nazareth Pitcher, had, as by reg. of
old Hingham appears, Daniel, bapt. 20 Apr. 1619; Jeremiah, 1 Jan.
1621; Matthew, 5 Apr. 1623; Deborah, 17 Feb. 1625; and John,
whose bapt. is, I believe, omit. and I have heard, that it was in a
neighbor: parish; came in the Diligent, emb. at Gravesend, 26 Apr.
and land. at Boston 10 Aug. 1638, with that w. and those ch. He is the
ancest. of all the myriads of this name in New Eng. and thence indefinitely
spread; and d. 30 Dec. 1660. His wid. d. 1681, aged 95, as
is said. Her sis. wid. Frances Ricroft came in the same voyage, but d.
in few wks. aft. arr. In his will all the ch. exc. Deborah, wh. m. May
1648, Matthew Brig, are nam. as liv.; and the share to this s.-in-law
was large. MATTHEW, Hingham S. of the preced. b. in Eng. m. 25
Jan. 1603, Sarah, d. of Nicholas Jacob, had Matthew, the freem. of 1679,
