name of Allen (bec. his proof of tak. o. of fidel. in Apr. 1654 follows
that spell. wh. in the earlier list of July 1644 made no distinct. between
Allen and Alling, using only the first name), Samuel, b. 24 Mar. 1670;
and Martha, June 1623, wh. d. young; and he d. 1691, early, as the inv.
is of 26 Mar. His will of 6 May 1689, names the two s. John, and
Samuel, and ds. Elizabeth wh. had m. John Hopson of Guilford, as his third
w., Lydia, wh. had m. a Wilcocks, and was d. so that her ch. his gr.ch.
Hannah Scranton, and Mary Guttridge should have her sh. and Sarah,
then unm. but wh. m. 7 July 1691, Samuel Atwater. He is call. sen. in the list

(as the Nash fam. p. 19, has it) 4 Nov. 1645; John (not bapt. as the
little vol. tells, but perhaps b.), 2 Oct. 1647; Sarah, perhaps bapt. 11
(certainly not 12, wh. was Monday, as giv. in the book); Eliz. and Susanna,
said to be not rec. (perhaps both d. soon), leav. us to suppose that
those preced. had rec. evidence of bapt. to wh. wrong dates are append.
and James said to be b. 24 June 1657, and this may be correct. H. C.
1679; was serg. and deac. and treas. of the Col. 1661 and some yrs. after,
d. 27 Sept. 1674. In his will, wh. was nuncup. he names only five ch.
and directs, that James be brot. up to learning. His wid. Mary, wh. in
her will of 17 July 1682 names the same five ch. d. 16 Aug. 1683. At New
Haven the fam. long remain. SAMUEL, New Haven, s. of Roger, m. 24 Oct.
1667, Elizabeth d. of John Winston, had Samuel, b. 16 Oct. 1668; John, 27 Mar.
1671; James, 29 July 1673; Roger, 9 Dec. 1670, d. young; Roger, again, 28
July 1677; Theophilus, 17 Feb. 1680; and Daniel; and his w. d. 8 Dec. 1682.
By sec. w. Sarah, d. of John Chedsey, m. 26 Oct. 1683, had Caleb, Sarah,
17 Jan. 1686; Elizabeth Nov. 1691; and Esther, 10 June 1697. He was a propr.
1685, d. 28 Aug. 1707 or 1709; and the ten ch. were liv. 1709. SAMUEL,
New Haven, s. of the first John, had Elizabeth b. 29 Dec. 1691; and Joseph, 29
Mar. 1694.
