. This surname is found in New Hampsh.

    BERESFORD, HENRY, is the name of a soldier under Capt. Turner, in
Philip's war 1676, had a ch. at Charlestown next yr.

    BERKLEY, RICHARD, New Haven, 1651, may be easy mistake for
Beckley
.

    BERNON, GABRIEL, Newport, a Huguenot, s. of Andre, b. at Rochelle,
in France, 6 Apr. 1644, escap. soon after, or, as one rep. has it, shortly
bef. the revocat. of the Edict of Nantes, tho. for his relig. he suffer. two
yrs. imprisonm. if tradit. be correct, and came to Boston, resid. some yrs.
here, and after 1691; but in 1718 was one of the chief support. of the
Ch. of Eng. at Kingstown; and in his 92nd yr. at Providence d. 1
Feb. 1736. By first w. Esther, d. of Francois Leroy of Rochelle, had
ten ch. (of wh. he brot. eight), and by sec. w. wh. was Mary Harris, four
more. See Knowles, 431. His only s. d. in early life; but the progeny
of sev. ds. are kn. in our day; and one of them, Mary, m. Gabriel Tourtellot,
a fellow-passeng. from France.

    BERRY, AMBROSE, Saco 1636, d. and was bur. 3 May 1661, leav. wid.
Ann; m. 1653, as Ann Bully. ANTHONY, Yarmouth 1643, was after of
Gloucester, there, I think, m. Elizabeth d. prob. of Henry Travers, for, in 1665,
after d. of Richard Window, wh. had m. the wid. of Travers, she claim.
as his d.-in-law. CHRISTOPHER, Salem 1640, and Felt knows no more
of him. EDMUND, Sandwich 1643. EDWARD, Salem, a weaver, had
Edward, b. in Eng. and m. a. 1668, Elizabeth wid. of Roger Haskell, was of
Marblehead 1679. EDWARD, Salem, s. of the preced. brot. by his f.
whose trade he foll. from Devonsh. JOHN, Boston 1644, may have liv.
at Portsmouth 1665. JOHN, Ipswich, m. 17 Jan. 1671, Hannah Hodges,
perhaps d. of Andrew. She d. 29 May 1676, and he m. 24 Jan. foll.
Mary Chapman, d. of Edward. JOHN, Yarmouth, s. of Richard, had
Judah, Ebenezer, Elizabeth Experience, and Mary. RICHARD, Barnstable,
or Yarmouth, 1643, may have rem. to Boston, there in 1647, liv. with
Thomas Hawkins, but went back to Y. and had John, b. 29 Mar. 1652;
one, 11 July 1654; Elizabeth 5 Mar. 1656; one, 12 May 1659; one, 23 Aug.
1662; one, 16 Oct. 1663; one, 5 Oct. 1668; one, 1 June 1670; one, 31
Oct. 1673; and one, 16 Dec. 1677. Of the eight, whose names are not
