John Hogan in 1744. In 1745 he was elected Church Warden when James Ball, Sr., was in the vestry. Aug. 16, 1751, the vestry ordered that Colonel James Ball, Jr., and Major Peter Conway agree with workmen to build a house for the glebe. In 1756 he sold Geo. Chewning an estate he had bought of Wm. Ball, Gent. In 1760 he was appointed to procession the land. Was frequently Ch. Warden, and July 22, 1785, elected Treasurer. He was, with Col. Thomas Gaskins, exec'r of Maj. Peter Conway's Est. (CONWAY 13.) He was also Burgess for Lanc'r Co., 1755, resigning that year to accept the office of Sheriff. For many years he was a Delegate, and in 1788 Mem. Va. Convention.

It is very pro. that he had Betty Lee, b. cir. 1766-70, as Betty Lee Ball, dau. of Col. Jesse Ball, m. Nov. 1, 1787, John Gordon, of Lanc'r Co. (CONWAY 53). The seventh child of this m. was named Mary Agatha.

--- "His life was marked by a great non-conformity to the world, which made him offensive to some who did not understand him ; but by those who knew him and his motives he was highly esteemed and duly appreciated. He embraced religion in 1806, and was a Christian in the Scripture sense of the word." (M. II., 480.) He had 5 child., of whom were Dr. Henry, of Naylor's Hole, Rich'd Co., and Fanny.

Parson Seward, of Richmond Co. He prob. had also Anna. The North'd records show that Anna Lee, dau. of George Lee, m. Sep. 3, 1829, Joseph Ball. (BALL 190)

Thomas Ball, gr. s. of 64, says Capt. Leroy Edwards m. Mary Glasscock, whose mother was a sister to the grandfather of Capt. Jas. K. Ball, of Bewdley (193). Did James Ball 43 have a daughter who m. Glasscock?
