“ Robert Reading, of Dublin, Esq.,” whose parentage is unknown, was probably the “ Robert Reading, Esq.,” who matric. at Oxford (Ch. Ch.), 28 March 1655, being B.A., 14 Dec. 1658 ; and presumably he, who, as “ of London, gent.,” was admitted to the Inner Temple, 1659. He was M.P. [I.] for Ratoath, 1662–66 ; and was cr. a Baronet [I.], as above, by patent, dat. at Dublin, 27 Aug. 1675, the Privy Seal being dat. at Windsor, 11 of same month. He was living in 1683 at St. Martin's in the Fields, Midx., and was attainted by the Irish Parl. of James II, in 1689, and then described as “ of Brazeil, co. Dublin.” He m. about 1662, Jane, widow of Charles (Coote), 1st Earl of Mountrath [I.] (who d. 18 Dec. 1661), da. of Sir Robert Hannay, 1st Baronet [S. 1630], by Jane, da. of (—) Stewart. Her burial, 18 Nov. 1684, at Westm. Abbey, is recorded also on 22 Nov. 1684, at St. Michan's Dublin.(208a) He d. s.p.m.(209b) and was bur. 25 March 1689, at Newark, Notts, when the Baronetcy became extinct.
