Report of the Meeting of the Editors and Secretaries of the Associated Societies, 19th May, 1914.
The Annual Meeting of the Editors and Secretaries of the Associated Societies was held for the first time at York, on May 19th, by the kind invitation of Dr. Evelyn, the Secretary of the Yorkshire Society, by whom the party was hospitably entertained at luncheon at the Station Hotel. Those present were Dr. Evelyn and Miss Leaf (York), Canons Cole and Sutton, and Dr. Mansel Sympson (Lincoln), and Mr. Markham (Northampton). Much regret was expressed that the Leicestershire Society was unrepresented, and that a telegram had been received from Mr. Cogswell, of Worcester, who had intended to be present, to the effect that he was prevented by illness at the last moment from attending. Several papers were handed in, and particulars were given of others to be included in the present volume. At the instance of the Yorkshire Society the question was introduced whether a Society should be required to take as many copies of the annual half-volume as it had members. After some discussion the question was referred to the General Editors to consider with the Publisher whether any arrangement could be made to meet the views of the Yorkshire Society. The question of an Index to the Reports, &c., for the last 12 years was brought before the Meeting by Dr. Mansel Sympson, who stated that an Index was in process of completion, and that it was hoped it might be issued to members shortly after the half-volume for the year. A cordial invitation to hold the Meeting at Northampton in 1915 was given by Mr. Markham.
