Transcript:1886 Testament of Ellen Truax

On this eighteenth day of the month of October, in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six in the forenoon, Before Mr. Siméon Noiseux Notary Public, for the Province of Quebec, Canada, residing in the Town of Farnham, in the District of Bedford, undersigned, and in the presence of the two witnesses hereinafter named and also subscribing, Came and appeared Dame Ellen Truax, wife of Mr. George Cammeron farmer, residing with her husband in Farnham, said District: Who, being in her usual state of health, and sound of mind, memory, judgement and understanding, as it appeared to us said Notary and witnesses, has dictated to us said Notary and witnesses her last will and testament, in the following terms, to wit:

I recommend my Soul to God.

I order my debts to be paid.

1st I give and bequeath to my beloved son Levi Cammeron, farmer of Farnham my piece of land or the share I may have in it, known and distinguished as being all the south west corner of lot number one hundred and sixty-three (163) which is situated on the south west of the South Eastern Railway line of the official plan and book of reference of the Parish of St. Romuald of Farnham with the buildings therein and improvements.

2nd I do give and bequeath to another of my beloved sons Warren Richard Cammeron, my homestead or the share I may have in it, consisting of a parcel of land, known and distinguished under the number one hundred and thirty (130) and one hundred and thirty-two, of the official plan and book of reference of the Parish of St. Romuald de Farnham, with the buildings and improvements thereon; with all my money notes, obligations, bills, household furnitures, agricultural implements all and singular chattels belonging to me without exception; but at the reserved of the possession and enjoyment of the same pieces of land and chattels, in favor of my beloved husband George Cammeron during his life time only; dispensing him to make the inventory and to give sureties as requested by law in such a case, to enjoy, relying on his good management to preserve my property my husband shall be at the charge to entertain my said son W. R. Cammeron up to his age of majority.

To have and to hold, used and enjoy my said properties, by my said legatee as aforesaid; divesting myself to vest and seize them at the time of my decease instituting my said husband George Cammeron my testamentary executor. The said testatrix hereby declaring to have well understood and comprehended the same, and to be comformable to her last intentions; and hereby revoking all former wills and codicils she may have made heretofore. Done and passed in Farnham, in the dwelling house of the testatrix, on the day, month, and year first above written under the number two thousand nine hundred and thirty-five of the original records of the undersigned Notary, in presence of Messrs. James Cammeron and William Weightman Welch, both of Farnham, farmers; witnesses called for the purposes hereof: and the testatrix hath signed with the Notary and witnesses, after these presents, being first duly read to the testatrix, in the presence of the witnesses who have signed with the consent of the testatrix in the presence of each other.
