Template talk:Wpsurnamelist

Proposed revisions [11 November 2012]

The month-year parameter could, in principle, be replaced by a subst of the MediaWiki Magic Words {{CURRENTMONTH}} and {{CURRENTYEAR}}; rendered here without substitution → 04–2024 ... and with substitution → 11–2012 . An example where I've used the substitution is on Surname:Groff and the template syntax used was {{wpsurnamelist|Groff|Groff|{{subst:CURRENTMONTH}}–{{subst:CURRENTYEAR}}}}. I believe the 3rd parameter could be included as a default without the user having to enter any text. --ceyockey 19:59, 4 November 2012 (EST)

Looks good to me. Do you want to go ahead and revise the template?--Dallan 07:51, 11 November 2012 (EST)
If you use the subst: on the template itself, won't the {{subst:CURRENTMONTH}}–{{subst:CURRENTYEAR}} actually be replaced in the template with 11-2012? If you don't use the subst: text, then the CURRENTMONTH and CURRENTYEAR should be carried through to the page calling the template. --Jennifer (JBS66) 13:32, 11 November 2012 (EST)
