Surname:Thibodeaux

Watchers

Origin of Thibodeaux (Thibodeau)

The origin of the name Thibodeau(x) is derived from an old German name compounded of Theudo, meaning people and bald, meaning bold. The literal translation was bold people. It came to france as Thibault, where augmentative suffixes were added to give the name Thibault and Thibodeau(x) the meaning of very audacious or very bold. Perhaps also a Thibault familly resided near a body of water and became known as the Thibault family, from the water; eaux, meaning water or waters.[1]
