The Hiestand family that I am researching are ancestors to my husband. This family came from Switzerland and settled in Chester County, Pennsylvania and begins with Ulrich and Barbara (Strickler) Hiestand. Dr. David B Trimble wrote a book in 1989 on the family titled "Hiestand Family of Page County, Virginia" and this book was a tremendous help to me in putting my husband's family together. Our branch of the family left Pennsylvania, moved to Virginia and then finally on to Ohio. I do not know what year they arrived in America, but the immigrant Ulrich died in the early 1700's in PA so they have been here a very long time, which means there are many many many descendants here in America of this one couple, Ulrich and Barbara. --Msscarlet1957 17:43, 28 January 2008 (EST)
