[add comment] [edit] Looking for guidance [21 September 2013]Amelia I understand that "sources" such as GenWeb can be undocumented and thus unreliable. However, there are times that they are a reliable secondary source. In this case, the Simcoe County GenWeb contains fairly complete photographic images of grave markers in a number of cemeteries. I would equate these cemetery pages to other sources such as Find A Grave (which is less complete for these cemeteries) and the Canada Gravemarker Gallery. I think the pages should be sources rather than citations or MySource pages. Should the WR source be more focused such as "Tomestone Territory" which is the section of this GenWeb site that contains the cemetery gravemarker photos? And should the existing source be recreated as a repository? I would appreciate any guidance you can provide. Thanks Rick--RGMoffat 14:22, 21 September 2013 (UTC) Hi Rick, If you're going to cite it a lot, make it just the Tombstone Territory. Having it be titled GenWeb will cause us more mental bandwidth in remembering why it's an exception than it's worth! There's already a GenWeb repository generally; I think we decided that county-specific was too much work to maintain (and we'd have to have all of them to be consistent).--Amelia 20:32, 22 September 2013 (UTC) |
