Source talk:Arnold, James N. Vital Record of Rhode Island, 1636–1850

I'll agree that I'd personally prefer to see the title using the middle name, but the standard is to use only the first name. Q 14:31, 30 June 2009 (EDT)

Which standard? This says use middle initials. Help:Source page titles--Amelia 14:48, 30 June 2009 (EDT)
The one Solveig applies when she drops initials. Actually, I have seen that stated explicitly, somewhere. Q 14:56, 30 June 2009 (EDT)
The place to state it is on the page instructing people how to name pages, so until that's changed, I'm not moved. I too remember a discussion about this somewhere, but I thought the answer was that you use what's on the book if you can (that's the standard for the other citation formats I use, though, so perhaps I'm inventing things).--Amelia 15:14, 30 June 2009 (EDT)
Don't know. Makes no real difference to me, but I know Solveig did change several pages like that in conformance. I'll see if I can find the specifics. Q 15:21, 30 June 2009 (EDT)
See Titles for person pages. The page I saw was more explicit than this, but this is the same message. Q 15:51, 30 June 2009 (EDT)
That's person pages, not source titles. No initials on person pages has programming/usability reasons not present here.--Amelia 15:55, 30 June 2009 (EDT)
Yes, I realized that after I posted. I thought I'd removed that, but you apparently saw it between times. This wasn't what I think I saw previously. Q 16:15, 30 June 2009 (EDT)
Hi, I made some mistakes a while back. We are using middle name or initials. Sorry for the confusion. Does anyone have time to make that clear on the help page? --sq 16:01, 1 July 2009 (EDT)

Merging other sources into this one [30 June 2009]

Thanks Amelia.Gerlicher (and Susan Irish) you really improved and decluttered my attempt to merge the various Vital Record of Rhode Island sources.

I noted you removed the list of FHL film numbers, which is fine with me. But they are on a lot of source pages (presumably due to import from Family History Library). Is it a problem to have made them go away? Brenda--kennebec1 16:10, 30 June 2009 (EDT)

They were there as generic content from the import. They don't serve any purpose given that there's a link to the film list under repositories already.--Amelia 16:14, 30 June 2009 (EDT)
