Usage Tips

T288 - This is a general index to the NARA pension file; most of the pensions are Civil War Union pensions, other are Spanish American War, Philippine Insurrection, Boxer Rebellion, and the Regular Establishment. Information on the card are usually the veterans name, rank, unit, term of service, names of dependents, the date or dates they applied for the pension if more than one applied. An example is if the veteran applied, and his widow applied after his death it lists both dates, the State where they applied from. It is in alphabetical order.

This index is sorted by unit, beginning with the field and staff, then showing soldiers alphabetically by company.
