Published in at least six editions up through 1888 (with numerous 20th century reprints of most of them). In most editions, only the front matter on the recent general history of the state has been changed. Information on the early history of Kentucky and the persons most involved in its exploration and establishment is most often carried forward without change (though pagination may vary).
