From Preface of History of Harrison County. West Virginia:
"In preparing a history of Harrison County, West Virginia, no literary merit is claimed as it is only a collection of events gathered from many sources, such as the records of the Courts, old letters and newspapers, books of a historical nature, and traditions that have been handed down from early times."

User Review:
Thanks to Google, the history of the USA is staying alive in its older, more complete, history books. This excellent copy of the detailed history of how Virginia was split into West Virginia and (partly) Pennsylvania is invaluable! Genealogists everywhere need these lists and indexes--excellent proof of ancestors' actions and whereabouts.
