The main families who settled the area of western Frederick and eastern Hampshire counties were Nixon, Caudy, Parke (Parkes, Park, Parks), McKeever, Pennington, Emmitt (Emart, Emert), Millslagle, Loys, Kumpf, Ashbrooks, Poston, Pritchard, Albin, Cheshire, Horner, Pugh, Edwards, Smith, Davis, Sirbaugh, Kelso, and Hite. Includes index. Contains biographical information about the early settlers as well as the genealogy of their descendants. Includes abstracts or transcripts of original records, such as census, appraisements of estates, wills, etc. Includes tombstone inscriptions for Capon Chapel Cemetery, located near Capon Bridge, West Virginia.
