Description
The Buckinghamshire Parish Register Society was founded in 1902 by the Committee of the Bucks Architectural & Archaeological Society for the purpose of printing the old parish registers of the county. In printed publications the Society appears with the name Bucks Parish Register Society. The Society closed in 1916 after having issued its 20th register. The following paragraph is excerpted from volume 83 of the Parish Register Society's publications:
- “The Registers were copied and revised from the originals by Mr. William Bradbrook, Bletchley, Bucks., the Hon. Secretary of the Bucks Parish Register Society, founded in 1902, which Society, owing to the exigencies of the times, closed down in 1916 after having issued its XXth Register, and generously handed the balance of its funds and some Transcripts of Registers to the Parish Register Society, with an expression that the latter Society should occasionally print a Bucks. Register in its series.”
