Repository:Matricula

Matricula is an online repository of scanned images of church records from Austria and Germany, including both Roman Catholic and Lutheran records. The church books are scanned in their entirety and grouped in repositories by region, and then alphabetically by the city where the records are kept. They generally are not indexed aside from any index volumes which may have also been scanned.

Covered in this collection in Austria are the records of the Roman Catholic diocese of St. Pölten, the state records of Upper Austria (including both Roman Catholic and Lutheran records), and the Roman Catholic archdiocese of Vienna.

In the German part of the collection are Rhineland records from the Lutheran Church, Lutheran records from the Berlin central archive, records from the Lutheran Church in Kurhessen-Waldeck, Roman Catholic records from Passau, and Lutheran Church records from the central archive in Pfalz.

As of December of 2011 the website is in a beta phase and it is being coordinated by the International Centre for Archival Research (ICARUS) headquartered in Vienna, Austria.
