Library and Archives Canada (LAC; ) is the federal institution, tasked with acquiring, preserving, and providing accessibility to the documentary heritage of Canada.[1] It is the fifth largest library in the world. LAC reports to Parliament through the Minister of Canadian Heritage, whose incumbent has been Pablo Rodriguez since October 26, 2021. Genealogists account for 70% of LAC's clients. "Library and Archives Canada collects and preserves Canada's documentary heritage, and makes it accessible to all Canadians.
