[edit] Township of WyandotteWyandotte historically was a civil township created in the southeastern part of the county of Leavenworth, state of Kansas, United States of America, and was a reorganized civil township in the newly formed county of Wyandotte after it separated from Leavenworth in 1859. [edit] HistoryWyandotte was one of the five original civil townships erected at a meeting of the Leavenworth county commissioners on 7 September 1855 after the county was erected the preceding month. It was named after the Wyandot tribe who occupied it as part of their reservation. On 9 September 1858, the Leavenworth county board created the township of Quindaro out of a portion of Wyandotte. [edit] BoundariesThe boundaries were originally defined: Beginning at the northern line of the Delaware reserve, on the Missouri river; thence down said river to the mouth of the Kansas river; thence up said river to the mouth of Stranger creek; thence up said creek to the northern line of the Delaware reserve; thence east along said line to the place of beginning.
