A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Whitsbury from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:

"WHITSBURY, or Whitchbury, a parish in Fordingbridge [registration] district, and partly in Hants, but chiefly in Wilts; 2¼ miles W of Breamore [railway] station, and 3½ NNW of Fordingbridge. Post town: Fordingbridge, under Salisbury. Acres: 1,850. Rated property: £1,375. Population: 204. Houses: 39. The manor belonged once to Breamore priory. A Saxon camp, of 15½ acres, is on a hill. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Winchester. Value: £284. Patron: Vice-Admiral Purves. The church is not good. Charities, £6."

Whitsbury is a village and civil parish in the New Forest District of Hampshire, close to Fordingbridge. The village of Whitsbury consists of a straggling village street with timbered and thatched houses. The parish was originally in Wiltshire, but was transferred to Hampshire in 1895.

The main employment is based upon the very successful equine and agricultural industry, comprising 4 major yards of racing stables, stud and dairy.
