West Neck was originally in the Town of Oyster Bay, the County of Queens in New York until 1885 when West Neck and Lloyd Neck seceded from Queens County and became part of the Town of Huntington in Suffolk County, New York. In 1926 West Neck and Lloyd Neck merged to become Lloyd Harbor, Suffolk, New York. West Neck was never considered a part of Nassau County as it had seceded from Queens and become part of Suffolk County before Nassau County was formed.
